A rich man has died. The family comes together for his funeral. After the funeral, the sister of the deceased man casually says in front of everyone that she thinks it was murder. Not long after voicing her opinion about her brother’s death, she is found murdered. So Poirot is asked to investigate.

Hercule Poirot has no shortage of suspects in this one, as everyone seems to have the same motive and they’re all keeping secrets. Poirot plays a more subtle role in this one as he takes his time and even goes undercover for a little while to unearth the truth. But the mystery plot is strong enough to carry the story even when Poirot’s presence isn’t that strong. And the other characters are fleshed out enough to serve their roles.
